Our winter collection is not your typical collection of holiday or winter scents. Instead, this collection focuses on elements of nature and incorporates comforting scents to get you through the long, colder months ahead. Available in three scents in 4oz gold tins, these candles add a subtle touch of elegance perfect for the festive season ahead. Great on its own, better paired with one of our signature fragrances, and even better purchased as a gift.

Thendral is a term used to describe the gentle, cool breeze coming in from the South and the calming effect it brings. In Tamil culture, a gentle breeze symbolizes the arrival of a new season and new beginnings. In Tamil literature and poetry, the word Thendral, however, is often used as a metaphor for the ultimate reality, the divine, or the eternal. Our candle Thendral is a beautiful floral scent. It combines the scents of a Frangipani, also known as Perunkalli in Tamizh, and Lotus to honour the scent of flowers carried in a gentle breeze. Pairs well with our signature candles, Mariamma and Agarbathi.

Pournami, translates to full moon day. The cultural and religious significance of Pouranami can be seen in ancient sangam literature such as Tolkappiyam, Cilappatikaram, and Thirukurral, which all reference the full moon day in a multitude of ways. Prior to the integration of religion, the observance of Pournami was simply rooted in the agricultural traditions of indigenous Tamils. Our candle Pournami combines the scents of saffron or kunkumapoo, coconut, and incense as a tribute to our Tamizh ancestors and various rituals performed on full moon days. Pairs well with our signature candles, Nimmathi and Theneer.

Light is seen as divine; symbolic of God, truth, and good, across many faiths. Lighting lamps in Hindu culture serves as a profound reminder of the eternal presence of divinity, the pursuit of knowledge, and the triumph of light over darkness. Navarathri, the festival of lights - Deepavali, Karthikai Deepam, Nepal's Tihar and even the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah, Hindu fasts such as Skanda Sasti, Gowri Viratham, Ayyapan fast, - all incorporate the lighting of lamps or candles and all occur within the cooler/darker months, relatively. Our candle Oli, translating to light in Tamil combines the mild floral scent of rose water and earthy scent of oud wood to create an aroma reminiscent of festivals and celebrations. Pairs well with our signature candles Arohara and Kondattam.
