Low Porosity Hair - 5 Things You're Doing Wrong

1. Applying conditioner/leave-ins or serums on soaking wet hair. Low porosity hair repels water so products will slide right off. Squeeze water out first.

2. Not using a clarifying shampoo 2-3 times a month to help remove product build up. Product build-up not only weighs down hair, it prevents moisture from getting absorbed by the hair.

3. Not washing your hair in warm water or warming up your hair oils for better product penetration. Warmth helps open up the hair's follicles for better product absorption.

4. Using coconut oil to oil your hair. Coconut oil is a big no-no for low porosity hair because it causes dry, brittle hair leading to breakage.

5. Using thicker oils and butters. The product will just build up rather than hydrate and nourish your hair. Use lighter oils, and water-based products instead.

I have low porosity hair, which means my hair has a hard time absorbing moisture. Using the right oils, products, and techniques ensures my hair is hydrated and healthy.
